Perms involve chemical processing, but at On Point we use gentle solutions and bond-building treatments to minimize damage. A thorough consultation assesses hair health first; very compromised hair may need restructuring or conditioning before perming to reduce breakage risk.
Come with clean, dry hair and avoid heavy styling products the day of your appointment. If you've recently colored or chemically treated hair, mention it during booking. We may recommend a strengthening treatment beforehand to ensure best perming results and hair resilience.
You can color before or after perming, but timing matters. We typically recommend coloring at least two weeks before or after a perm to avoid overlapping chemical processes. During consultation we'll plan the safest sequence to protect hair health and achieve your desired color and curl.
Use sulfate-free, moisturizing shampoos and conditioners designed for chemically treated hair. Avoid washing for 48 hours, limit heat styling, and apply leave-in conditioners or curl creams to define waves. Schedule occasional bond-repair treatments and trims to keep curls healthy and fresh.
